Greta Segreta
Lettering and editorial design | DeAgostini
How does an illustrated book take shape when the starting point is a script to be transformed into images, atmospheres and narrative sequences? Greta Segreta, published by DeAgostini Libri with illustrations by Sara Antonellini, is a project in which story and illustration dialogue from the very beginning to build a recognisable visual world close to its readers.
For this project, RAM followed and coordinated the creation of the images from the script, accompanying the transition from text to the visual construction of scenes. Our work covered the organisation of the process, collaboration with the illustrator, verification of narrative coherence and attention to the relationship between text, images and the rhythm of the volume.
Coordinating an illustrated project means holding together different sensibilities: editorial requirements, the voice of the story, the illustrator’s style and the overall readability of the book. In Greta Segreta we worked to ensure that every illustration was coherent with the story and contributed to the construction of a narrative world that is clear, engaging and designed for its intended audience.
